I am interested in publishing a manual on ibooks, but only making it available to my students. Is that possible?
It's possible if you provide the file directly to them (free of charge) via email, download, or some such. It's not possible via the Apple Store.

Thank you. As the files are huge (150+) MB, what is the best way to download them to the iPad?
Dropbox or similar is probably your best bet, in that case.

If your school has it's own web servers, you can place the .ibook file(s) online and give them the url so they can download directly on their iPads.
