The orientation of my iPad screen will not change when I rotate the device. I have tried several restarts and I have verified that orientation is not locked in my settings
iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1
Double-click the Home button and swipe Task Bar from left to right; check if rotational lock is enabled on the far left.

As I said in my original post, rotational lock is enabled. I wish it were that simple! Any other suggestions?
2nd possibility
1. Make sure the Side Switch is set to Lock Rotation: Settings>General>Use side switch to

2. Now check the Side Switch to make sure it's in the unlock position

Forgive me for being redundantly, repetitive and for asking again ....... You do not see the lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen which indicates that the device is in fact locked ..... Correct? I have seen users insist that they have checked the settings and they don't understand fully the two different ways that the screen rotation can be locked.
If you are certain that the screen is unlocked, reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Having the same problem as Ted2reb. The screen rotation is NOT locked. Howefver it will not rotate. Have tried the reboot twice, to no avail. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
