Duplicate Twitter Contacts?

I've recently noticed (no idea on how long it's been going on) that the auto-complete function built into iOS 5 is giving me duplicate entries (see attached image - I've blurred out most of the name). I've checked all of my contacts, and none of them have duplicate Twitter handles/names. The same phenomenon also happens with my iPad (2nd generation, 64GB 3G/wifi). However, the duplicate Twitter handles aren't the same as those on my iPhone 4S. Below are the steps I've taken, to no avail. I've done the same things on both my iPad and iPhone.

  • Removed Twitter account from iOS, restarted, and added it back
  • Revoked all access to my iOS Twitter account from 3rd party applications
  • Removed all 3rd party applications that use Twitter (e.g., TweetBot), restarted
  • Removed the contact card of one of the duplicates, ensured it synced to iCloud, added it back.

It's not really a problem, but it's an inconvenience to scroll past duplicate entries. In some cases, they are duplicated once (2 entries), while others have 3 or 4 entries. It even occurs on a freshly reformatted iPad (2nd gen, 3G/wifi). In a different note, I've noticed that the profile pictures for my Twitter contacts in iOS are wrong (they're old pictures). Note that this does not appear to affect my iOS Contacts (which are synced via iCloud) - it only appears to affect the built-in autocomplete feature of the iOS/Twitter integration.

Thoughts about this? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks in advance.
