Address book changes do not sync to iPhone

I have recently cleaned up and updated my Apple Address Book

On syncing with iTunes I have Info > Sync Contacts > Selected groups (with csome of my address book Groups selected)

Problems:

- the listed groups in iTunes are not the same as those I have created in Address book (list is of older groups I had previously)

- changes that I make in Address Book are not synced with the device

I have selected the Advanced option of Replace information on this iPhone > Contacts

Still contacts do not update.

Ok, a full restart of the Mac and then openning iTunes starting a sync, and then opening Address Book, and syncing again seems to have corrected the listing so now Groups in AddBook and Groups listed in iTunes, and groups on the iPhone all match up.
