i want to install the Facebook app on my IPOD touch. It says i need IOS 4.3. I am at IOS 3.1.3. Itunes says this is the current version when I chekc for a software update. Am I out of luck? Will my old IPOD touch not goto a higher release?

in the IPOD settings it says I have 7.1 GB. So I don't think I have a ! G IPOD. This si an IPOD Touch. It doesn't look like there even is one with 1 GB on that page. Any other suggestions?
1G iPod mean first generation iPod, the original iPod touch.
Here is the 1G iPod fro the link I gave you . Note the black plastic covrr on the back. If it is like yours it is a 1G. If yours does not have volume buttons on the upper left it is a 1G.

okay thanks. Is there a way to get do Facebook with this IPOD touch? Now it just trys to get me to download the FB app and I can't actually get to the FB webpage.
Not unless you previously purchased a previous version of the app that was compatible with iOS 3.1.3 and use that version.
What happens when you go to the FB site on Safari?
it justs prompts me to download the app. won't go any further.

I have the same problem with my 2nd gen. the best alternative option is to go to safari, open up facebook.com, login like you would with a computer and remember to check the box "keep me logged in" from there, at the bottom of the screen is a bookmark icon(it looks like a square with an arrow coming out of it), tap it, and then tap, "add to home screen". It creates a shortcut that will go straight to facebook, essentially that is what the facebook app does except with the bookmark you are running facebook wth safari. Hope this helps.
