I have an iPhone 3g with ios 4.2, I want to know should I update to ios 5??
I heard off people saying they have problems with it

An iPhone 3G can not be upgraded to iOS 5. The highest possible is 4.2.1.
I connected it to iTunes today and it said there was an update for iOS 5.1.1 available?......
Then you have a 3GS, not a 3G.

Yes... why would you not load the latest version of the OS that is availabe for the device?
I heard of people having problems with the update, espicealy with battery power...
If you require any of the Features of iOS 5 then Update... If not... then don't...

Thanks for all the posts so far but I what I will want to know is will updateing it be a disadvantage?? ie. power drain and slow to respond??
The vast majority of users never have any issues.
Some do... those issues can ba attributed to corrupt data in their backups, faulty hardware, or any number of various minor issues.
The choice is yours, no one here is going to force you to do anything.
The device is 3yrs old (technology wise), it simply is not and can not be as fast as the 4 or 4S running the same iOS.
