Aug 28, 2012 4:35 AM in response to rinotomby Kenichi Watanabe,I think you need to let go a bit sooner. It seem like you are doing the "Switch playlists" command by pressing and holding the center button too long.

Aug 28, 2012 5:09 AM in response to rinotomby Kenichi Watanabe,You are using the remote control Center button on the headphone cable, correct?
First, do this to reset your shuffle
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
If that does not help, you should do a Restore in iTunes. Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. Over to the right, go to the shuffle's Summary tab. Click the Restore button. This will erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings. If there is a software (or settings) glitch causing this problem, a Restore should fix it.
If the problem recurs after the Restore, there may be a hardware-related problem, either on the shuffle or on the headphones remote control buttons.
This is a 3rd gen iPod shuffle, and not the current 4th gen shuffle?

Aug 28, 2012 9:36 PM in response to Kenichi Watanabeby rinotom,I will try this out and get back. By reset steps mentioned in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655, am I going to loose my playlist available in the iPod?

Aug 28, 2012 11:10 PM in response to rinotomby Kenichi Watanabe,A Reset just restarts the iPod. For a shuffle, the procedure is really just turning it OFF, making sure you wait long enough (at least 10 seconds), and turning it back ON.
A Restore does erase the iPod. But if there is a software issue causing the problem, a Restore should resolve it because the shuffle will get a new installation of the latest available software.
This is a 3rd generation iPod Shuffle.
So in your case, I guess the shuffle's only control buttons are on the headphones cord. Maybe the "Center" button on the cord is faulty in some odd way... Interestingly, what it does when you press and hold it is actually what a 4th gen shuffle does when you press and hold the VoiceOver button (which is located on the shuffle).
