"Cannot connect to iTunes store"

Whenever I hit the "updates" button in the App Store on my iPhone 4, a pop-up saying "Cannot connect to iTunes store" comes up. I can still download new apps. I have reset my password on my Apple ID, I have tried enabling/disabling restrictions, etc.... This is occuring on both wifi and 3G.

I am out of ideas.

I have an iPad 2 and there are no problems there. I have checked for all available downloads on iTunes, and nothing new is there. Help?

Had the same problem and here is how i solved it...

I went to date and time settings - switched off the auto option - changed the date a few years later - went back to update section of appstore and received the following error message "cannot establish a secure connection - check date and time settings - went back to date and time settings and checked the auto option back to on - checked again the appstore updates and problem was solved.

Hope it helps you too!

Hi, it didn't work for me :( I turned odd the auto option, set the date to 2014 then went to updates itunes appstore, still cant connect to itunes. i tried turning off the phone ( sliding) then tried the appstore with the same time 2014 setting, it said cant identify server identity, cancel, continue. i pressed continue and it still said cant connect to itunes appsto upate. Backgrounder, my kids always change the date and time settings upto 2038 to cheat in their games. ithis could probably be the reason why? please help! i can see the updates are adding daily, i can buy apps, its just irritating that i cant view the updates....please help.
