Dec 1, 2014 2:16 PM in response to Jay_honeypby hansolo415,No none of these solutions worked for me.
However, I believe it is clear that it has to do with mixed Apple IDs.
I have three phones linked to the same Apple ID as their main Apple ID. Mine and two other lets call them other A and other B.
Now on my phone I use the same Apple ID, but for iMessage I use a private Apple ID
If I turn off FaceTime and sign out of both the computer and the phone and ALSO sign out of iMessage (which is linked to the same phone number, I want to use) then briefly I get a screen that allows me to choose my phone number and only my phone number.
The minute I turn on my iMessage and the iMessage account uses the SAME phone number on the SAME iPhone, but is based off a different Apple ID, then WHAMMO, the option to choose a phone number VANISHES and I get in small print (yes it looks different) that I can make cell phone calls from my computer (a great feature), BUT it has chosen the phone number used on other A. If I then turn off the iCloud account on other A the phone number that shows up is the phone number for other B.
This seems to be some random choice or might have to do with some order of entry, but I strongly suspect that if phone other B has it's iCloud account changed away from the shared iCloud account that this will be fixed. However, the idea was to keep some phones and devices sharing the same iCloud account.
Anyone else have any ideas?

Dec 9, 2014 1:55 AM in response to hansolo415by Pascal Pfiffner,I'm in the same boat, 3 phone numbers associated with one Apple ID. I just turned off FaceTime (it was off on one device as I just saw) and turned it back on. Now I can choose which phone number of the 3 to use on all my devices.

Mar 6, 2015 1:31 PM in response to Jay_honeypby bcal924092,Hi Guys & Gals,
I have tried all the below also and it did not work. So I contacted my phone/cell provider and they where able to give me the answer right away. So here is the way to change your mobile / cell number for FaceTime on your iPhone & I assume that will also work with iPad's that have a Sim Card, but can not guarantee with iPads.
1/ Go into settings.
2/ Select Phone, where it says my number tap on it. Delete and then add the number you wish to use for both FaceTime & iMessages.
3/ Switch the device off and remove the Sim Card for 5-10 mins.
4/ Replace the Sim card and switch the device back on and this should have resent FaceTime & iMessages to the number you are wanting to use.
I hope this helps everyone out and resolves any issues anyone has with this issue.
Just a shame that Apple couldn’t have provided me with this assistance in there own help pages. But anyhow that’s sales, not always support for you! ;-) lol
