Change face time phone number

Go to Settngs > FaceTime > Caller ID (at the bottom).

Your ID can be either your phone number or your Apple ID.

You can't change the number for Factime - either use your cell number or email address(s). If using a numberf, it has to be the same as you cell number.

Your FaceTime is the same as your Apple ID, so as far as it goes you're stuck with that Apple ID (unless of course you create a whole new Apple ID).

The phone number is associated with the number of your phone. It's not quite like Skype where you can have a separate number added to the FaceTime account. Unless of course you have another iPhone with FaceTime on it.

I hope I'm making sense. I'm trying to say that a phone number is assigned to your phone/SIM. But your Apple ID can be assigned to as many FaceTime devices as you like. For example, if someone gives me a FaceTime call my MacBook, iMac, and iPhone all ring with the FaceTime call to my Apple ID. But if someone FaceTime calls my number then only my iPhone rings with that number.

It's the same way iMessage/SMS text works with an iPhone, if that helps you visualize it.

I have the same problem. I have three IPhones registered uner my ID - two are my kids and the other one is mine.

I just received an iPad for Xmas and the default phone number is the one used by my 10 year old son!

How can I change that number to my own iPhone cell number? There has to be a way to do this....

That's odd. IPads don't use phone numbers for FaceTime - only email addresses (usually your Apple ID). There's no way for any phone number to be entered for Facetime on an iPad.

To see what your iPad is set for, or add/change the email address: Settings > FaceTime >

See if you can edit your information at Appleid.apple.com

Also check your Contacts on the iPad to see if your email is associated with your son's contact card.

I'm in the same situation as Tordenskjold, I've changed phone number in Appleid.apple.com, even deleted my contact on iPad AND still my phone's number pops up for facetime on our iPads.

Even on my wife's new bought iPhone 5 installed with the home Apple id...

I am in the same situation as project.90 and Tordenskjold, my I'd is all changed to current numbers but my FaceTime is set to an old phone number with no way of changing! It is so frustrating.

Hello, I have two iphones registered to my name as well and facetime on my ipad was also only showing my daughter's telephone number but not mine. After hours of searching the net and fiddling with everything on the ipad I realized that the facetime on my TELEPHONE!!!! was off. The problem was not with the ipad at all. When I enabled the facetime on my phone, the number showed on ipad's facetime along with the second phone number. Then I could choose which number I wanted to use. Hope this helps

Hey, I turned my face time off and then on again after swopping my number and it changed the number connected to my face time.

I seem to have the same problem.

I have recently swapped networks from Orange to Vodafone. The 'helpful' girl in Vodafone set up my new 5c for me but the facetime number is still appearing as the temporary number assigned to my whilst they carried my phone number over.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I am signed in on icloud as me, my apple ID has my existing number (not the temporary one)...

Hi guys, i had same problem as yours and finaly after searching all day i found a way that IT IS ABSOLUTLY WORKED ON MY IPHONE TO CHANGE PREVIOUS USER NOMBER ON FACETIME and IMESSAGE

1) first go to settings---->phone---->my nomber, and change the nomber as yours

2) go to settings and turn off both facetime and imessage

3) go to settings---->general---> reset ----> reset all settings

( dont be afraid , nothing will be deleted on your device, it just resits all your settings)

4) when the phone starts up again , at first set wifi settings and make sure you have antena signals o your phone

5) go to facetime and make it active again

Thats all you have to do
