Aug 26, 2012 10:16 PM in response to jbshanksby léonie,The only way I can make the crop tool greyed out is by taking the original image flles offline or by not selecting any image at all:
Are you sure, that you had the image selected and it is online, when you tried to crop? "Print" is not greyed out for offline originals, but it will not actually let you print
But if your image is online, and you have selected it, and you still cannot crop, your User preferences may be corrupted; then try to quit Aperture, log off and on again (to ensure Aperture really quits), and move the User Preferences (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Aperture.plist) from the user library to the Desktop - see the Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics on how to do this.
If this does not help, try the other trouble shooting measure from this document, unless you tried that already.

Léonie

Aug 27, 2012 7:10 PM in response to jbshanksby jbshanks,Thanks for the help everyone. This is strange... So after not being able to crop yesterday, I quit Aperture for the night and just opened it tonight. Oddly, I got the registration window asking me to submit my info (I did this years ago). After I sent it, I opened the images up and was able to crop them...the same ones from yesterday that I couldn't crop. ??????
It's fixed but do you know why this happened? I'd like to fix anything that might be going wrong under the hood.
Thanks,
Jerry
