Error Code -8072

So I keep on getting this error message when I try to delete a M4V file that's on my desktop:

"The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8072)."

What is error -8072 and what can I do to delete this file off my computer?

Macbook Pro 13, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

Out of curiosity, what output is produced when you open a terminal window and run the command

cd Desktop ; ls -al "your_file_name.m4v"

where of course your_file_name is your file's name.

I actually got it to delete already using the sudo rm -rf command but thanks!
