Can I get a free upgrade on my current FCP 6.0.6?

I need to edit with XDCAM files and the current XDCAM Browser 2.1 demands I have FCP version 7.0 or higher

I do not wish to use FCP X - I hear nothing but horror stories on this version and industry rates it as a 'pro-sumer' version. Why?

Any ideas on the work around solution to work with XDCAM files as mp4's in my current 6.0.6 ?

upgrades from Apple are not free, they have to be paid for

FCP 7 is only available from Ebay and 2nd hand retailers nowadays as Apple no longer distribute it, you will need to google to see whats out there

Apple has abandoned Final Cut Studio, there are no updates in the pipeline. done finished, kerflooey. Except for us deluded hangers on here in the forum.

Use the XDCAM TRANSFER UTILITY to convert the files to XDCAM QT, that FCP 6 can see.

I saw your notes in Creative Cow and intend to follow Log and Transfer system until I saw your note.

XDCAM Transfer Utility to XDCAM QT? Is this a better alternative u think?

For some reason the L&T plugin for XDCAM doesn't work in FCP 7 for some. If it works for you, great! Do that. If not, the XDCAM transfer utility.
