Can't delete songs on iphone (itunes match) iOS6

There is no 'cached' songs. Only ones you have downloaded from cloud. Song you have been streaming are not downloaded . Hopefully iTunes Match will be sorted in the future and we will be able to delete songs from iPhone without turning iTunes Match off.

If you have a same playlist on you iOs device and Mac or whatever , you are not able to delete songs from your iOS while deleting them on Mac. You can adjust the content of the playlist, but you can't adjust content on your devices which have been downloaded .

By removing songs from playlist you don't remove them from device.

We should clarify what we are referring to.

When speaking about playlists and iTM, removing a song from a playlist on one device, will remove it from the playlist on other devices.

This is distinct from the act of removing a song file from a device. If a song has been downloaded to a device, removing the song entirely on one device and choosing to remove it from iCloud will only affect those devices that have not yet downloaded the song.

By your post you say what I'm right. As I said by removing song from playlist you not removing this song from your device. So the file still on your device.

But we trying found out how to remove song from device without turning off iTM.

Apple's assertion in iOS6 appears to be that you shouldn't ever worry about removing songs - iOS6 will do that for you as necessary.

But to answer your expliicit question, you can remove all locally store music without turning off iTM by going the the Usage area in settings, drilling down to music, and swipe-deleting.

Looks like the news hasn't made it to this thread, but iTunes Match is apparently fixed in the latest iOS 6.1 beta. This screenshot was posted in the comments on MacRumours when the latest beta was released. It clearly shows that the download icons next to individual tracks are back, as well as the ability to delete tracks. You'll note that the aspect ratio of this screenshot shows it's from an iPhone 5 which never ran iOS 5, and the Music App is shown with it's new grey theme so we can be certain that the screenshot is legit. Bring it on.

If it makes it to final, that would be awesome. And even better, it's great to know that Apple is listening.

Before iTunes Match I used the "Sync only checked songs & videos" option to manage what I kept on my iPhone. After turning on iTunes Match on my phone deleted all my music, and it appeared the only way to get it back was to download it all again from the iPhone, I thought I would get creative. I created a smart playlist called "Checked" where Checked is true. On the iPhone I selected the playlist, scrolled all the way to to bottom (which took a while with 5000+ songs), and clicked the download button. Then I went to bed. When I got up the next morning, it had only downloaded 172 songs. Even worse, the music app was totally useless. When I launched it (if I could launch it at all) I could only click on one thing before it locked up. Relauncing would often lead to a completely black interface with no buttons and no data. Restarting the iPhone did nothing; resetting did nothing. The most it would ever do is launch and just sit there.

That only works until you get to step 5. When you turn iTunes Match back on on your iPhone, it earses all the music you just added to your iPhone is steps 2 - 4.

Has anyone found a way to add a significant amount of music (like 10-20 GB) to an iPhone AND HAVE IT STAY THERE - other than painstakenly downloading it one album, artist, or playlists at a times from the iPhone - while still using iTunes Match?

OK here is my problem. iTunes 11 and iOS 6 on iPhone and iPad. I have a limited amount of storage on my iPhone and iPad. When I sync each I can see that the amount is getting larger all the time. I deleted some apps, I deleted everything I can think, but the "music" is not allowing me to delete songs. I don't think I should go through a 7 or 8 step process to remove the music I don't want on my phone. I want more control over what is on my phone. I have gone through settings, both on my iPhone, iPad, and on iTunes and have been messing with this for the past several hours. Each time I sync my phone, the same songs are on there. How do I know what is being stored on my phone, and what is in iCloud? How do I get the stored stuff off of my phone, aside from deleting songs off of my iTunes? I even had to buy more storage, $20 for additional 10GB storage. What am I missing?

And you also read in the thread that you can toggle the 'Show All Music' slider to see all music (including those in the match) or just the ones on your PC that you have downloaded (or sync'd). I'm sure you read all that right?

I found the toggle!! On my iPhone and/or iPad: Settings, iTunes & App Stores, iTunes Match, Off, then On... Show All Music, On. I don't have PC, I have Mac. Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it.

Until Apple gives us back our old functionality, my preferred way is to go to Settings -> General -> Usage -> Music -> then swipe delete on All Music. I find the preferable to having to toggle iTunes Match.
