Q: my ipod classic 120gb will not sync as it said insufficient memory 111GB used.I have tried manually sync less files but error messages occur  G:\ipod- control/artwork F1055   CHKDSK Utility I have tried restore and restart but no joy?

my ipod classic 120gb will not sync as it said insufficient memory 111GB used.

 

I have then tried manually sync using less music files and no video but error messages occur  G:\ipod- control/artwork F1055   CHKDSK Utility I have tried restore and restart but no joy  any suggestions welcome?

    Your iPod has approximately 120 x 1000 x 1000 x 1000 bytes unformatted capacity.

    This is equivalent to 111 x 1024 x1024 x 1024 bytes.

     

    120Gb10 = 111Gb2

     

    Both numbers are valid descriptions of the capacity of the device, marketing uses the larger number, the IT industry generally uses the smaller one

    If iTunes is telling you your iPod is full then it is. Take some stuff off if you want to put some other stuff on. If you have more than about 2% of "Other" then it probably needs a full restore to reclaim space lost to orphaned files.
