Problem again with Steinbergs, Virtual Guitarist 2

Hi Justin and others, this is Lidu asking again.

Justin, last time you told me to run the AU-manager and it helped.
I found the Virtual Guitarist 2 from the AU-instruments.

Problems again, Logic don´t find the Virtual Guitarist 2, Virtual Basist is OK.
Now, when I start AU-manager and look in the table, all other instruments are
"passed validation", only Virtual Guitarist 2 is "crashed Logic" in the Compatibily row.

When I start Logic, I get the pop-up ,CoreAudio:Plug-in"Virtual Gu" not availabe!

When I run AU-manager, I get a pop-up: SYNCROSOFT LICENCE CONTROL-ERROR. Application 'virtual Guitarist' has caused the following error: 1

Options:
- Click <Ok> to abort.

Then the AU-manager stop in the 18/21 Virtual Guitarist 2 (in the Scanning Audio Units). Then I have to boot my iMAC (Power off) every day.
Last you, Justin, told me to run the AU-Manager, and after that everything was OK, some hours.

Now the same problem, why doesn't anything run correctly

My Logic is aborted many times a day .

I have my Steinberg -dongle OK, and the codes of Virtual Basist and Guitarist 2. I cant use virtual Guitarist 2, because I find only Virtual Basist from the AU-instruments. Please Help!!!!!!!??????????????

Hey Lidu,

I just checked out Steinberg's website and they say that the minimum requirement for running VG2 is 10.4. This may be the reason that it's not working properly since you are still on 10.3.9. I've included the other minimum requirements here. I'd guess though, that this probably has a lot to do with it...

Power Mac G4 867 MHz
• 512 MB RAM
• 7 GB free hard disc space
• OS X Version 10.4
• CoreAudio compatible audio hardware
• For using as plug-in or Rewire slave-device, a VST2, AU (tested in Logic 7.1.1 only)
or Rewire compatible Host is required
• Steinberg Key and USB port required
• DVD-Rom required for Installation
• Internet Connection required for license authorization
• Please note that some features may not be supported in other host applications

Hi Justin,
I think, that syndicate 7 has right.
I have to update to Tiger.

Do you give me adwise about changing my operating system.
1. Shall I uppdate Tiger over the existing Panther or
2. Do I format my hard disk (160Gb) and then install Tiger.
More guestions to installing Tiger on an empty disk.
Do I have problems with my user-id's and passwords.
What should be the better and safety way.

Sorry Justin, I don't really understand English enough.

I don't understands your next text:
(do you men Reaktor Demo ????????????)
Does it run with ither AU hosts?

Hello "syndicate 7 studios" I walk to the nearest Apple Store and buy the Tiger. I've a Pro Studio, and making records to good popular singers and I must get the VG2 in use very fast.

I ask you the same I asked of Justin C.
You seem to have both Panther and Tiger.
When I bought my iMAC G5, Panther was installed.
Now I ask you:
1. Shall I uppdate Tiger upon the existing Panther (easiest for me) or
2. Do I format my hard disk (160Gb) and then install Tiger.

More guestions of installing Tiger on an empty disk.
Do I have problems with my user-id's and passwords.
What should be the better and safety way.
I don't use the keychain.
Is it clever to share a160 Gb hard-disk to two or three partitions.
Is the MAC faster.

It's up to you. I see you use an iMac which doesn't support my method very well. My method is to install on another internal volume without touching the old system. After the new OS is stable (or sooner). makr an image of it. The first time you run Tiger it should ask you if you have other accounts to copy over-then it just easy. If you have too few drives, you can at least make an image of your current system and the update-though I don'y really recoomendit otherwise.

Hoopefully you have another Hard drive so this can provide as few problems as possible.

By the othe AU hosts I did not mean Reaktor, I meant another application that will host or load an AU- Garage Band is an example many people have.

Sorry Justin,
I apologize, if I have hurted your mind. It was not the meaning.

This is a little difficult, because my home-language is finnish, and now I don't maybe understand everything OK and I ask stupid questions and so on.........

But, Justin, you are a helpfull man and you have given me, many important answers.
Did I understand, that we should try with my Logic 7.0.1. I have no must to update to Tiger. I have a LaCie 250 Gb hard disk connected with FireWire to my iMAC.

JUSTIN, I'M READY TO FOLLOW YOUR METHODS.
I didn't understand everything of your last message, but a little.
Once more: when I the first time (when you said) ran he AU-manager, after that everything was OK and Virtual Guitar2 functioned well as an AU-instrument.
Do you really think, that we can get the VG2 function whole the time with
my Logic 7.0.1.

You are the chief, I'm waiting for orders what to do.
We use your methods, which are surely good

Did I undestand right, your methods and the way to solve tis problem

For fewer problems and better performance I installed Tiger. I would recommend it for you as well. You may not need Tiger but it should help.

If you don't need Virtual Guitarist then you could save money and wait until 10.5 (leopard) Which is not for a while-not announced yet.

I don't use VG2- I am not really sure if it will work well with Panther. You could start a new topic and ask if anybody uses VG2 with Panther (10.3).

It didn't hurt my mind.

Hope that helps you decide.

Thanks Justin,
I have to think abou the OS-version.

Steinbergs Virtual Guitarist 2 operation manual(which I got when I bouht itthe program) tells in System Requirements
that: Mac OS X version 10.3.9.
And for the basist its manual tells 10.3 or higher.

But Steinberg home pages tells for both Guitarist 2 and Basist Mac OS X
version 10.4

Problem again with Steinbergs, Virtual Guitarist 2
