When it is on it shows a connect to iTunes to restore message, it is my friends iPod, he tried to do all this, via windows vista 1st, then we tried on my MacBook, in disk utility it registered at a 8.6TB iPod? We treid to restore, erase etc, with that, Got nowhere, is it buggered?
In Disk Utility,
try the First Aid-> Repair (you can select FAT32 or HFS+) but be patient, it is not a small floppy disk but a 120GB hardisk, so leave the DiskUtility to repair the iPod for about 4 hours.
After completion, Restore the iPod using iTunes.
I assume that you can't play any music, as there is no reply for q2. (which mean HD problem, which hopefully can be fix by DiskUtility)
Good Luck!
NO sorry bilbo it won't play, but he has gone and done something rather rash, and taken it apart no, and put it back together, he has a tendency to bugger things up. So watch this space! Thanks for your help.
Oops, so voiding the warranty, if any.
Tell the rash handyman, to buy a iPod hardisk from eBay, Toshiba MK1231GAL, it is less than US$50 for 120GB and replace the HD. Hopefully, he has not damage the casing.
Good Luck!
