ipod nano 5th gen white screen

I plugged my 5th gen iPod nano into my cable connected through to my keyboard on my MacPro. I get a white screen and nothing else. Now I get a messafe saying: "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again. An unknown error occurred (1601)".

I have locked and unlocked my iPod. I have then pressed the MENU and SELECT buttons together and the opod restarts but the screen is still white.

I pressed and helf down the MENU and SELECT buttons together a total of 16 times now - after 3 my iPod seems to not want to turn on the display.

I've even gone so far as to "RESTORE" my iPod.

I'd like to try DISC MODE but the screen is white and therefore I can't see anything.

Any help anyone pls?

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.

Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.

Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity. A third party service will actually replace the damage part for a little less. Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.
