First name last name order when you add contact from Mail

Folks,

This one has always puzzled me: I like to see me Contacts in alphabetical order with last name first on my Mac and iPhone. I have both settings checked to display them in that order. What I CANNOT understand with Apple's data detectors when you click on a contact in Mail and say add to address book it ALWAYS puts the senders first name in the last name place. Moreover, my emails list me with my last name first.

Am I the only one that thinks it's a pain to have to add a contact in Mail and then change the first and last names in contacts???
