2 kids, 2 ipod touches

Hi,

I currently have 2 iphones and 2 ipods in my house. me and my wife have the phones and our children have the ipods. My kids mainly use the ipods for watching tv shows which are downladed from itunes and facetime. I have downloaded several shows already and there memory is pretty full.

Is there a way for them to download shows from one itunes account, and have both ipods be able to retrieve the shows from the cloud, this way they can delete and add shows as they want? i think right now I have them each with there own apple id, and they can only get the shows downloaded from their apple id off of the cloud.

I also want them to be able to have different facetime acccounts as well.

if this is not possible, what are your thoughts on trying to get a external harddrive that can be accessed over the web, and have them watch shows like that? does apple make a product for this?

Thanks,

iPod touch, iOS 5.1.1

What you want to do is possible but it requires that only 1 Apple ID account is accessed over iCloud therefore consolidating the entire library. I guess you could authorize various devices and computers for several different account and redownload past purchases to every device (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519) But that seems overboard. I thought that iCloud could access hard drives connected to the network, does it not?

Well this is where it gets a little bit more complicated, but the best option that occurs to me is that you consolidate all the music to one library that is accessed by various devices over iCloud (that is what you are currently doing right) And this way you can keep the apple IDs but you need to authorize the different devices so that they can play content purchased with other Apple accounts...

ok that sounds good.

All my songs and tv shows are currently on one computer, all in the same itunes. they were purchased across 4 apple id's, but all in one location on my computer. So I believe my whole library is already consolidated?

How do I -

"but you need to authorize the different devices so that they can play content purchased with other Apple accounts..."

yes i think this will help alot,

one more dumb question - on the ipod touch, where do I go to access the TV shows that are in the icloud, once I authorize the device?

Do I just go to itunes, then go to the previsouly purchased section?

also, this will cover items purchased directly from the ipod and also items purchased from itunes on my computer?

thanks again
