Cannot add songs to iTunes!!

Cannot add songs to iTunes!!

I'm running mac os and Itunes 10.6.3 won't let me add songs to itunes at all, whether it be through "add to library" by dragging and dropping or moving files to the automatically add to itunes folder. I've also tried verifying disk drives using the utility. When I try drop and drag it comes up with a "+" sign but nothing happens after that. All files are MP3 format, like all my others in iTunes, it seems the new update from march is the main reason I cannot add to my library. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try the following. open the iTunes program on your dock but holding down the alt (option) key and an option should come up that allows you to create a new itunes library, do that and see if you can add the songs to the new library.

unfortunately that hasn't worked, still have the same situation of not being able to drop drag/ " add to library" or "automatically add to library" from the folder :/
