Q: the scroll ball on my mouse does not scroll down

Yup - Amazing but true. Do those "fools" who paid 1/4 what we did for their PCs do this, too?!

Usually swiping the roller ball in all directions for a minute or so removes the dirt that's blocking it but that didn't work today.  Tried the spit tip and it was back in working order in seconds.  Thanks folks.

SPIT works.

You don't have to spit on the ball.  Just wet you tip of finger with spit, then try rolling it back and forth.

Small spit on the ball vigorously pass my finger over the ball and all is fine.

Had the same issue, mouse won't scroll down,  no spitting needed,  gently push the ball while scrolling down,  it worked.  yehhhh!

Not a good idea.   Spit contains grease and fat and attracts more detritus quite quickly..

I have had this problem for 6 months now and so I just  bought another Mighty Mouse on Ebay for $5 - same problem. Did the spit technique- WORKS!!

I am not saying spit doesn't work.   I am saying it is not a good idea.  If you slightly dampen the ball using a cotton bud and then roll the ball vigorously around a sheet of paper, you will achieve exactly the same result without the potential damage of spit.   Just ask yourself what you last ate before you even consider spit.

A little spit on a mouse's ball works wonders.....did for me anyway !
