I can't open my icons/apps on my iPad. I held down the two bottons until I saw the apple logo and that didn't fix the problem. Software is up to date and iPad is fully charged. Some of the apps are working (Safari is fine); however, when I click on my "mail" app and "kindle" app, the screen flickers black and it won't open.
I have had my iPad since last winter.

I did all of the steps above and the apps still won't open. Any other suggestions? I can't uninstall/reinstall the "mail" app but I could uninstall/reinstall the Kindle app, Facebook app, etc. if it comes to that.

Download any free apps to unfreeze the frozen apps. You can delete the free app later.
1. Double-click the Home button to close all Inactive Apps in Task Bar
2. Hold the Apps in Task Bar down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close App
4. Tap center of screen to return to Home Screen
5. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider
thank you, thank you, thank you. this worked. why? who really cares but i would like to know the "voodoo" behind why installing a free app unfreezes all the other apps already installed.
on another note, my "mail" app still will not open and i can't seem to unistall it? any suggestions on this?
Close the Mail app in the Task Bar and re-launch.
Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar. Hold Mail app down for a second or two; tap the minus sign to close app.
If it still doesn't work, try a reset.

hi, i followed your directions and still cannot launch/open the mail. when i click on the mail icon, it opens for a nano second and then closes. i've repeated your steps several times but still no go!
any other suggestions?
