Update 1.1.1 Success
Had a great update from 1.0 to 1.1.1 and it fixed the problems (video, etc.) noticed no drop in volume or any of the other problems mentioned. Have the Black 60G model. Anyone else???
You shouldn't notice a change in volume. The volume maximum feature is something that you can set, which is a relief. I am glad that it is something one can set rather then have the volume lowered permanently. You might want to look at

Setting the maximum volume limit on iPod.
I have a 5th gen iPod Video 30gb, and saw all this talk of version 1.1.1, so I ran iPod updater as I am running version 1.1 . It did not give me an option to update? Why not?
Mine went wrong, it's been hours since the update got installed and the screeen went "black" you can hear that the Ipod is working but I have not been able to restore it or to reset it. My PC is not recognizing this device. Does anyone know if there is an on line chat support ?

Your at one right now.
Do you get an Apple logo after the black screen? You might want to look at

iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes on Windows. Do you get any errors, messages, or other symptoms?
No, it just went black, I do not have any image on Ipod, the Ipod update window has 2 butons, Update and Restore, I can not selectneither of those(letters are gray) It appear a message saying that the update was succesful but Ipod never came back. I am thinking that maybe if the battery runs out, maybe, my PC could detect it.
