macfuse

whenever I plug my iPhone into my Mac I get a message saying my MacFuse is too new and I need to install an older version.

This has only happened recently and I can't remember what software I installed recently to make it happen

I have also tried to remove MacFuse but I can't seem to do that successfully either the same message appears

Any clues what to do?

Launch the Mac OS X System Preferences application and go to the MacFUSE preference pane. Click on the "Remove MacFUSE" button. This will uninstall all MacFUSE components except the preference pane itself.

You can keep the MacFUSE preference pane around should you decide to install MacFUSE again in the future. If you do wish to remove it, you do it just like how you would remove any other non-Apple preference pane: In System Preferences, control-click (right-click) on the MacFUSE icon and you will see "Remove ..." as an action.

Hello,

I have a similar problem, with MacFuse probably having being installed as a bundle with some other app (an old version of Parallel which I uninstalled a couple of years ago?) and giving me dozens of "MacFUSE Runtime Version Mismatch" warnings everytime I try to plug in my iPhone or my iPad.

I want to uninstall it, but when I open the MacFuse Preference Pane, it says that MacFuse is not installed - so the uninstall button is grayed out. It's driving me crazy, so I wondered if there is any way to unsinstall it manually. I have checked the link mentioned by Wjosten (wow, I've been looking for that page for months, but I could only get to blank pages with the "MacFUSE development has been discontinued" message!), then I made a manual search of the files mentioned on that page.

As a result:

1) I found that I have the following folders (both with a Do Not Enter sign):

- /Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/Project Templates/MacFUSE

- /Library/Frameworks/MacFUSE.framework

2) I didn't find any other of the files mentioned in the wiki/FAQ, such as:

- /Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs

- /usr/local/lib/*fuse*.dylib

- /usr/local/include/fuse

Not having the /Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs also means that I don't have "uninstall-macfuse-core.sh"...

Inside /usr/local/lib/ I do have 12 files titled "libfuse~" and a "pkgconfig" folder, this one also with the Do Not Enter sign, which I believe to be related to MacFuse.

Is there anyone who could help with a "Manually Unistall MacFUSE for Dummies"?

Thanks a lot!

Don't Use AppCleaner, it's actually Genio, a malicous software.

I tried so many different commands in terminal and manipulations of the software to fix this, i've given up hope. My machine doesn't have any MacFUSE.Framework folder anywhere running 10.9. This makes me think support is dropped for this framework. Is the MacFUSE software supposed to install this folder?

the command, sudo find / -name *MacFUSE* -print only turns up a /Library/PreferencePanes/MacFUSE.prefpane directory

hazzah,

/private/tmp/.macfuse-install.log

/private/var/db/receipts/com.google.macfuse.bom

/private/var/db/receipts/com.google.macfuse.plist

/private/var/root/Library/Caches/autoinstall-macfuse-core

/Users/Taylor/.Trash/MacFUSE.prefPane/Contents/MacOS/autoinstall-macfuse-core

i found these with sudo find / -name *macfuse* -print going to remove all traces and restart computer..

All files removed and after restarting i can't find a trace of them. There is no longer a system preferences pane for MacFUSE. I reinstall MacFUSE, restart the computer and go back to system preferences, I still see MacFUSE does not appear to be installed and a grayed out remove MacFUSE button.

So, there you go you can remove files from those directories from finder or terminal the files to get rid of the pane. Can you get MacFUSE to work? Maybe.. you would need the MacFUSE Framework folder on your computer and it doesn't appear on my 2011 macbook pro running mavericks

Commands to use:

sudo find / -name *MacFUSE* -print

sudo find / -name *macfuse* -print

sudo rm -rf "filepath e.g. /private/tmp/.macfuse-install.log"

Ahha! another idea:

1. Create 10.7 Partition

2. Check for frameworks folder 3 hours later after completing an install

3. Cry (most likely outcome but not certain)
