i have reset my ipod and restored it but it is still not working. i have connected to itunes and it has loaded some music onto it but though the light comes on you cannot see anything else on the screen. any suggestions would be appreciated

It might be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.

Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity. A third party service will actually replace the damage part for a little less. Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

thanks for taking the time to reply. will try letting the bactory drain and then restoring it. probably not worth sending it in as was looking to get a higher capacity one any way. will put a note on if draining the battery works. thankyou

thanks again for your reply, i waited until the battery drained and then restored it. i'm really pleased to tell you that it worked and my ipod is now up and running, just got to put lots of music back on! will keep me busy for a while. 😀
