I have purchased a 17" MACBOOK PRO late 2011 and right now, I feel it is just a WORTHLESS PIECE of JUNK, I NEED USB3 on my MAC, I have just spent a lot of money on broadcast software and BlackmagicDesign Hardware and I need USB3, ANY SOLUTIONS?????

I am really frustrated with APPLE, because, I have spent so much money for this machine and there doesn't seem to be any solution for people who have purchased MACBOOKS before this 2012 release.

IS MY MACHINE JUNK ALREADY??????????

!@#%#%^@

I need USB3!!

I hope someone SMART ENOUGH finally decides to make an EXTERNAL USB3 for MAC

I cannot tell you how frustrated I am at the WHOLE thing

It is VERY UPSETTING to say the very least!!

The solution is to sell your current computer and buy one with USB3 if that is what you need/want.

Technology changes frequently. So if you buy a new computer today I'm sure in six months someone will develop a computer with technology that was not available on the computer you buy now.

So why get all worked up and frustrated. Technology is what it is.

If your 17 has an express slot, why not as said above get the adopter or even get the Express Card E/Sata connection, it is really quite a fast hook up. USB 3 is a bit faster, but sata is also quite fast, much faster than fw 800 which in it self is good for most tasks. And yes did you not look to see what connections your computer had before you bought it? Is that not your responsibility?

Its worked for me.

I have a similar mmac spec and I just brought a express card Its by AKE express media for under £10. from Amazon.co.uk

The chipset is

0x1B21Asustek - ASMedia Technology Inc.

The driver is another matter. I found some drivers on the web

but I have installed quiet a few to see which one works. It seems the last three extensions installed got the drive to work.

I installed two sets of drivers

This one came as a installer ;

another set of drivers were from

http://www.osx86.net/view/2958-asmedia_usb_3.0_chip1042_fully_working_...html

It came without installer, just the extension files, so to install the extensions I used KextDrop as I'm not familiar with doing it from the MAC console;

and it gave me this.

Name: pci1b21,1042

Driver Installed: Yes

MSI: No

Bus: PCI

Slot: ExpressCard

Vendor ID: 0x1b21

Device ID: 0x1042

Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x174c

Subsystem ID: 0x2104

Revision ID: 0x0000

Link Width: x1

Link Speed: 2.5 GT/s

I'm not sure which one worked buts its all worked so I'm pleased.

I copied 2gb in 22 sec so I'm happy.

I also have windows 7 on my pc and got this express card to work with that so I'm very happy. It just took a VERY long time to get all the driver stuff sorted though.
