ExpressCard 34 TV tuner?

So, I was re-reading the MBP manual and in the brief section mentioning the ExpressCard slot it means expansion like a TV tuner?

Is anyone developing something like this? TV input would be pretty cool to have on occassion.

MacBook Pro 2.16GHz, Mac OS X (10.4.5), 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD

Note: FlyTV's ExpressCard 34 model only supports DVB-T, digital standard used in Europe, Australia and parts of Asia. The ExpressCard 54 model adds support for analog NTSC signals in the US, but won't work in the MacBook.

Hi,

This is a tangent, but is it possible (electrically) to adapt the /34 socket to the /54 cards with a simple extender? It appears (superficially) that both form factors have the same connectors (mechanically). Do they also have the same pin-outs?

I suppose it's possible, if the pin-outs are the same (I suspect they are). But it wouldn't be pretty. Most of the 54 card would have to stick out of the slot.

You can get a USB tuner from Apple for £89 here - probably cheaper, and doesn't occupy your only EC34 slot...

(Look up what you want at Apple, then buy it on eBay/Ebuyer).
