I wish to use the text/sms of my iphone on my ipad in similar way that the mightytext (droid) app works with the ipad browser.
mightytext app registers phone then you log onto web app and your text/sms funtionality is there.
iMessage only works with apple originated / destined phones so it is not usable in a large scale unless I do not understand iMessage?
Any ideas?

iMessage only works on iOS devices. There are many texting apps in the Apple app store, some of which work with other mobile OS's. Google for reviews.
I have looked at many texting apps, none of which use the same number on your iphone? I dod not want some generic app number, I need my real number to be used when people reply.
Aren't there any apps that can have the ipad use a matched iphone's sms? Where is the innovation?

The issue I'm having is iMessages does not send/receive texts. If an iPhone user responds to my message but steps out of range of wifi, I won't see it on my laptop, because it came through as a text. It makes for a very inefficient workflow. Thoughts anyone?
