Have an video camera with IEEE 1394 how do I do that on my MAC

Have an older DVI Camcorder - needs IEEE 1394 to download, how do I do that on iMac? Does not have IEEE ports on it

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

Yes, but the newer iMac's have 1394b FireWire 800 instead of FireWire 400 and you need either a FireWire 400 to 800 adapter or a mini 4 pin to 800 cable.


If you already have a mini 4 pin to 6 pin FW 400 cable for the camera,

then all you need is a FireWire 400 to 800 adapter.

If not, then get a mini 4 pin to 9 pin FireWire 800 cable.
