Well I'm pretty faaaaar away from genius level (I can see it with a good telescope) but I need a break from working so I'll post a reply that you can summarily disregard if you want. Okay here's my reply: If it's just your renders that got deleted, why don't you just render your timeline again? If I were to go back and re-read your post I'd probably see that my answer is way off base but oh well too late I've already typed it and I ain't going back.
P.S. About the $25 you were no doubt planning on sending to me ... please send it to your local charity organization ... or organisation if you're not in the States.
The first mistake was walking into ANY repair shop without having a working clone of your system hard drive. That makes YOU the moron.
The second mistake is offering $25/hr. Seriously. Anyone worth their support t-shirt wouldn't touch this for less than $75/hr.
So. To get this thing back on track you need to offer up a bit more info.
What exactly did you lose?
- the project file?
- renders from the application COLOR?
- or something else?
Guys...he said "Color renders." Just a little different than the FCP render files.
Dude...easy solution, since all the original media is still intact. Open the Color Project, render again. It will render the clips with the exact same name as it did the first time (when you re-render a clip, it renames the OLD render file to another name, and FCP links to the new file). After you render out of Color, then FCP should reconnect fine.
And yes...sorry...$25/hour is the going rate for an assistant editor. Even if I knew how to remotely connect and do things, I charge quite a bit more than that.
Thank you for your help. And yes, X, I should have made a back up and stored my Color Render on an external drive. So thanks for the advice, moron.
Unfortunately, the color project went out with the bath water. I do have my project file and the original Pro Res clips on an external drive. I lost the Renders from the application Color. And Final Cut Studio was reinstalled after the erase since it was gone too. Hey, the $25 was not meant to be an insult. I'd be happy to offer $50 as that is the most I can afford. And what is OP?
OP - Original Poster.
If the Color Project is gone, then you can't link to the Color renders. The sequence that you have BEFORE you sent to Color will relink to the original files. But the one that came from Color...won't. At all. In any way, shape or form. So if you have the original sequence pre-Color, you can use that. Color work will have to be redone.
