need help in my disk utility the 1 tb st31000528as media is red and it tells me this drive has ahardware problem rhat can't be repaired what can i do? iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

HELP!
My iMacs CD drive is broken and I can't use the start up disks that came with it to repair my HD. It is red and states that this drive has a hardware problem that can't be repaired

What can i do?
