Each time I try to print, my computer wants to default to the landscape printing. I, for the life of me, cannot figure out how to change that setting...among a couple others. Can somone help me out and let me know how you change default printer setting on my MacBook Pro?

Might it be something going on with the Presets for your printer? Something hinky with your printer driver? I have about two dozen presets that I use with my Canon printer - I would run through the presets and make certain that you don't have one selected that has landscape printing enabled. I would also check to make sure that you have the very latest printer drivers from Apple (or from the manufacturer of your printer).
It sounds like a user problem - it may not be, of course, but if you've checked everything else I would contact the manufacturer. There's little that we can help you with unless one of us here has the same printer as you (and you don't specify the make or model).

To change the default Print orientation for Safari (and Preview, Mail, ...)
1) start TextEdit, or another Apple app that has a "page setup" dialog in the "File" menu
2) pull down the "File" menu, and open the "page setup" dialog box
3) change "Orientation" to the one you want as default, example: "portrait"
4) select "Save as default" in the above "Settings" pop-up menu
5) select "any printer" in the "Format For" pop-up menu (of course, if you want make the change for all your printers)
6) click OK and quit TextEdit
7) quit (if not done yet) and restart the other Apple apps (Safari, Preview ....)
The default orientation should have changed into the one you have selected and "saved as default" in the TextEdit dialog.

I had this exact problem and finally found the solution online. SUPER EASY. In your Internet browser, go to File > Page Set up > change Orientation from Landscape (horizontal) to Portrait (vertical). Your print-outs will be Portrait from now on!
