HP USB flash drive v250w

Hi All,

I just bought an HP USB flash drive v250W (16gb). From a search of these communities, it seems that HP flash drives cause some problems. However I didn't find any like mine...

When I plug it in to the USB port of my MacBook Air (10.8.1) the computer detects an error and shuts down! Just before it blacks out, a whole lot of Terminal type text shows up briefly. I managed to see the work "kernel" before it disappeared. Is this what folks call a "kernel panic"??? I've tried both ports - same same.

The USB drive works fine on my MacBook Pro (10.7.4).

Any ideas what's going on or, more importantly, how I can fix the situation?

(I'm copying this to the MAcBook Air community too.)

Regards,

Mark.

Hi back, pippedapple,

There was a recent update to Mountain Lion, I think, that mentioned something about USB drives. However, by that time I had returned mine to OfficeWorks for a refund.

HP and their distributors here in Oz were useless. They even told me that the model was not sold here. I read it while holding the actualy USB stick in my hand with the receipt on my desk, so I knew I wasn't imagining it.
