Unfortunately it has not yet solved the problem. When I type "Go to Folder" I am asked to fill in the name op the folder. When I subsequent fill in /system/Library/PreferencePane. it says "Cannot find Folder"
Please help

Note the difference between the path Neil suggested and the one you wrote, try again.
If you previously installed the pane and it's not in one of those two folders, check the other. If you're trying to install the pane, find the pane you want to install and drag it to either of those folders.

uninstalled and reinstalled MagicPrefs. When I restarted the computer I got the following message:
"You will not have access to the MagicPrefs preferences, make sure ~/Library/PreferencePanes is writable then restart MagicPrefs"
What do I do now?

Make sure ~/Library/PreferencePanes is writable then restart MagicPrefs. Click on that PreferencePanes folder, CMD+I, and check that its permissions show you as owner with R&W privileges.
Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide /Library/PreferencePanes/ or ~/Library/PreferencePanes/ as the path, and drag it to that folder.

Found the PreferencePane folder, but the Pane for MagicPrefs (program for the magic mouse) is not in there.
MagicPrefs is an application, not a preference pane. Just double click it to run the application.
Thanks guys, I think we solved the problem.
I copied the pareference pane from system preferences into the folder in my library
