Screen Not Working Properly

All of a sudden my iPod screen has quit working, well it works now and again. It's as if the screen is trying to load and it's taking a long time cause the scrren will work and then won't work again for a while. Also it will start doing things on it's own like switching screens or tyrping randon letters when I'm trying ot search things. Can someone please help me?

iPod touch, iOS 5.1.1

Try the following:

- A reset. Nothing is lost

Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Restore from backup

- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order
