G-RAID with thunderbolt to Firewire adapter

Hi, I just bought a brand new Macbook Pro with Retina display. I also purchased a Thunderbolt to Firewire800 adapter with it to plug in the G-RAID mini disks I already had. WHen I try to plug the G-RAID mini in the TBtoFW adapter it make a regular beep and doesn't mount. Any clu on why this is happening?

The drives mounted perfectly on my 17in MBP and it works great on the MacPro I'm using right now.

It's beach use the FireWire to Thunderbolt adapter doesn't provide enough power. I've heard using two adapters with it plugged to both FireWire ports works. You plug one in, then the other.

I'm curios if the new G-Raid Mini is bus powered by USB 3. Or if you can plug in USB 3 and the adapter to get enough power. I only have 1 TB port on my Air.
