LEAP/PEAP Issues Resolved!!

Hey guys, I figured out how to fix LEAP/PEAP issues (with at least TTLS/PAP but I assume this fix works for everything).

Here's what you do.

1) Download the 1.1.1 version of the driver (we have 1.1.0) here:
http://chrisnolan.org/IO80211Family.kext.zip

2) Back up your copy of the driver which is found in /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext

3) Drag the new driver into the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder

4) Open up a terminal

5) Type:

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/

6) Restart

7) Enjoy!

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.5)

There are 2 things:

In System Profiles:

1) When I look at the Airport card, it now shows firmware version 0.1.16, where before it showed 0.1.12. I guess the new driver also load new firmware on the card.

2) When I look at Extensions the AirPortAtheros5424 shows 1.0.1 which is the newer version, and the IO80211Family shows 1.1.1 which is also the newer version, both are dated 17/02/06, 4 days later then the other kexts on the MBP.

3) The AirPortAtheros5424 shows Dependencies: Incomplete with Dependency Errors: com.apple.iokit.IO80211Family: No valid version of this dependency can be found.

Is this the same as the people who have it working?

Anyone know how to correct it?

thanks

Yep - Leo. I get this same information, including the bit about dependency errors. But my wireless connection is working great via PEAP auth.

i can confirm the imac driver does indeed fix the peap issue with macbook pro. i don't like messing with the /System/Library/Extensions folder but in this case it gives our clients the access they need and expect. i tar'd the original kext file so i can restore. i am concerned however that the firmware level on the airport card was raised from 0.1.12 to 0.1.46 - no time to test if putting the old driver back restores firmware version, afraid to try, content with functionality even if it involves risk.
