why is there a numeral in hard drive's name?
Why is there sometimes a numeral in a hard drive's name, such as "Mac Mini (6)"? How can I remove it?

Just rename the drive icon. It's there because somewhere you've created more than one drive name that was the same.
Or are you referring to the Computer Name?
I'm talking about the Mac Mini's name in the sidebar of my iMac. I can't change the name in the sidebar. It's a pretty minor issue, but I was wondering why it says "(6)" after the name, and how to get rid of that.
How many directories are listed in the Volumes folder?
Finder app > Go Menu > Go to Folder... , type /Volumes, click the Go buttion.
or from the Terminal app ->
ls -l /VolumesIt shows seven volumes, none of which is the Mac Mini, which is under Shared in the sidebar.
In Finder Preferences > Sidebar, uncheck Bonjour computers. Does the share disappear?
It does, but that only hides what I'm asking about.
