That is an opinion, and should not be taken as fact. Certain anti-virus programs definitely should not be installed, but some (such as ClamXav and Sophos) are well-behaved and should not cause any problems. It is my opinion that you don't need to install anti-virus software. If you do choose to install anti-virus software, it needs to be as no more than a backup "safety net" within a broader security strategy, since no anti-virus software can protect you against everything, especially brand-new threats.
