Hi, I've been hearing a lot lately about deleted information

Hi, I've been hearing a lot lately about deleted information like texts and being able to recover them, and also about deleted information on the iPhone in general. How fast does it take for an iPhone to overwrite deleted data? Can deleted data even be recovered? I've heard of software being able to do it but I am more interested if it's even worth the effort if the iPhone overwrites data so quickly the data is no longer there?

iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1

Information doesn't delete by itself. I've had my iPhone since the 3G came out and have never lost any data, unless I delete it myself.

If you sync your phone with iTunes on a regular basis, you won't lose anything.

also doing a backup on a weekly basis http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

also importing your pics to your PC http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

If you do these steps, you can always get your data back if you delete by accident.

Well that is their point. Deleted information goes into the backup folder as well with other information, even though it is not viewable information (much like a hard drive stores deleted information) and they can recover that information using their technology.

My question is, how long does it take before deleted information gets overwritten on an iPhone? They claim it only takes 4 milliseconds, can anyone confirm that?
