Some of my music plays halfway and then no sound.

I transferred my iTunes and music library from an old computer to a new one. Some of my music plays halfway and then no sound. Sometimes it skips to the next song, or it is quiet until the length of the song. Help! I'm afraid of turning on the old computer for fear that iTunes will sync with it.
