Garage band problem

Long story short, I had a crash and could no longer open the song I had been working on. However, I have located the .aif files which appear intact in the package contents on my comp. How do I use the .aif files now? I essentially want to import the .aif files into a new .band file to continue working on the project on my ipad. I realize I will have lost much of the additional work I did, but at least it's a start.

Ok. I figured out how to open and import the .aif files into garageband on my mac. Things seem good. However, I can't seem to get the .band created in the garageband program on my mac back to my ipad. I drop it in itunes as per ususal and sinc, and even though it appears to be there, I can't acces it when I try to import from itunes. Thoughts? Anyone?

Ok thanks. One last question. The .band file that was seemingly corrupted is saved on my mac, and can be transferred back to my ipad, though when i do that it continues to crash upon opening. Does anyone know if there is some part of the projectdata/metadata/or cacheinfo files that may be responsible for the crash. And if so would deleteing some part or all of one of those files possibly allow for it to open once again in GBand on my ipad?
