Is there a way to have a shared file automatically update when edited on your computer?

I have a file that I update daily that I need offline on my iPad, and am wondering if there is a way to do this through file sharing in iTunes automatically. I don't want to use a service like Dropbox since it would create multiple copies within the app I am working, FileMaker Go. Any ideas if this is possible? It's frustrating when I sync my iPad but forget to copy my new version of the file to iTunes to sync. Why can't it recognize that the file has changed and automatically update?

iPad, iOS 5.1.1

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.

There are few apps that can do this with iCloud currently, but perhaps there will be more of this in iOS 6.
