How to get books off kindle cloud onto the my ipad

I bought a kindle edition book from Amazon using my Safari Browser on my Mac Pro. Now it's just sitting in my Amazon Account in my Kindale Library, how do I bring the Kindle edtions book onto my iPad so I can read it? Do I deliver it to my Kindle for Mac? but its alll greyed out. Do I need to do it all from the Kindle app on the iPad?

Hi PatMan,

You need to download the Kindle app for your iPad, and also, on the Amazon Manage My Kindle page, add your iPad to the list of devices that you have registered for download. Once you have done that, then you will be able to get your Kindle book on the iPad. If you have an iPhone, you can do the same thing. Also, on the Amazon Manage My Kindle page, check the sync all devices so that the last page read will be the one that comes up regardless of the device you are reading on.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Hi PatMan,

Sorry - I thought I had manually registered my devices that had my Kindle app (I have 3 devices), but I just got my Macbook Air recently and downloaded Kindle to it, but hadn't registered it yet. I just looked at the Amazon web page, and it listed as a registered reading device, so it must do it automatically when you download the app! MY BAD!!!

So, just download the app to your iPad from the Apps store, and then check your Manage My Kindle again - it should show up!

So, once you download the app, you really don't have to do anything more on the Amazon site. You will see on the app when you open it that you have 2 buttons at the bottom: Cloud/Device. The Cloud is the Kindle Cloud, and that is where all of your purchased Kindle books will reside. You can then selectively download whichever ones you want to your iPad. Deleting them from your iPad will only delete them from the device - they will still be in the Cloud.

There is also an app for the Kindle store that you can download - makes it easier to get directly there to purchase new books if you are an avid reader/purchaser like I am!

Cheers,

Great PatMan!

I only use Kindle. Books are cheaper on Amazon and I have never had any issues on any of my IOS devices with books getting zapped resulting in missing pages, chapters, etc. We have posts on this forum fairly often with people asking how to restore their iBooks.

I am a loyal Apple user, and LOVE my Apple products, but I try to stick with software apps that are written and provided by people who do that for a living....

As far as I'm concerned, there is no one on the planet who can come close to Apple's hardware, firmaware, and OS/IOS products, but I also believe that Kindle is a better e-book app, and Firefox is a better internet browser....

Just my 2 cents....

Cheers, and again, I'm glad that worked for you!

I only use the Amazon site. I have never had any issues finding pretty much anything I needed there, and love Whispersync, so, I have stuck with them. I probably have 250 books or so, and love that I have a library at my fingertips no matter where I am!

I think that Amazon spent a lot of money developing the e-book segment of their business, and the few books I have not been able to find would not be anywhere else, so never tried any other e-book "vendors". Although, I was given a Barnes and Noble gift card, and since I have pretty much become an e-reader, decided to download the Nook app. But I like the convenience of having everything in one place so much, that I have found that I haven't used that one except for one "experimental" book, and that one was equivalent to my Amazon books with the exception of price. As with iBooks, the Nook books were also more expensive than the Amazon Kindle books.

Also, I have the Kindle app on all my devices (iPad, iPhone, and Macbook Air), so what's not to to like, huh?

Hey, just out of curiosity, is your nickname in any way related to "Pat" as in Patriots, as in New England Patriots? As you can see, I'm a New Englander, so, of course, when we see "Pat" that's what we immediately think of....hahaha.....or are you just PatMan, like in PatMan?
