Microsoft Office 2011 problems

After installing Mountain Lion Microsoft Office 2011 gives the following error when launching Word and/or Excel. However Powerpoint works without trouble.

You are running the latest version of Word. The latest version of AutoUpdate is 2.35.


The following Microsoft Knowledge Base article may help you isolate and fix your problem with MS Word.

Also, here is a EXC_BAD_ACCESS example from an older version of Word, and a series of counter-measures. Some of the thoughts in this article suggest a corrupted Normal.dot file, or incompatible plug-in for Word. Start Word or Excel with the Shift key depressed.
