Hello.

I just upgraded on line from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.

I have done a reset (CUDA), cleand the inside of the mac, but nothing seems to fix it yet.

Here's my configuration ( in french :-)

Looks like you have an early 2008 mac pro, with maybe a bad memory stick coincident with ML.

Try resetting the PRAM and SMC for your model. For SMC unplug everything and hold the power button for 15 seconds. Plug everything back. For PRAM, boot while holding CMD ALT P R keys 3 times then release the keys. You may lose a few basic settings. See what happens.

If this doesn't work, remove the memory boards and individual chips on the boards and reseat them. See what happens.

Lastly, there are LED's on the memory boards that may light up if you have a bad memory stick. Check them with the machine running, cover off.

I have the same MacPro as you do.

I've had memory "disappear" perhaps 3 times since I got it.

In every case re-seating the memory cured the problem.

You want to be careful about static when you do this.

The anti-static precautions are covered in this from Apple Mac Pro: How to remove or install memory on adding memory.

You want to take the same actions when removing and re-seating the memory

You want to remove the memory trays, removes and re-seat the individual DIMMS and then re-seat the trays.
