MacPro with OS X keeps randomly shutting down, fan seems louder than normal, and currently an X over the battery icon without it plugged into the wall and says No Batteries Available?

Macbook Pro mid 2010.

Just updated to OS X when it became avaliable.

Less than 12 hours ago it started just turning off randomly, the processing fan seems a lot louder than normal, and now theie is an X of the battery icon. The computer is not plugged into the wall; however, it is saying there is No Battery Avaliable and the power source is: Power Adapter.

So confused!

Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)
