How to I connect a MacBook Pro to an Optima Pro 360 Projector?

Just bought an Optima projector that I cannot get to work properly. My MacBook Pro recognizes that the projector is connected in the preferences screen alingments but the Optima fails to recognize an input source for an image. I am using the thunder to VGA adapter to connect to the Optima input VGA slot. I visited the Apple Store but they were no help either as they suggested that I use a mini-displayPort to DVI adapter to connect to the Optima but then I don't have a mini-display Port to VGA or some other way to connect to the projector. I went looking for a DVI to S cable adapter but no dice..apparently does not exist. Help please.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Having the mini DVI to VGA adapter, is also a good thing to have as 98% of hotel, convention centers, and other popular places that presentations still have the VGA input that will not accept the high quality input that Thunderbolt provides, they are mostly in older Windows world, as that is the majority of how their presentations are presented to them to project.

I hope this gives you some help.

All the best
