Toggle your PhotoStream switch (iPhone) from ON>OFF>ON and take a picture with iPad to test.

Hi Apache,

You need to have Photo Stream set to "On" for both devices. Sometimes there is a bit of a lag between when you take the pic and when it shows up on the other device. Also, only pics taken after you have turned it on on a particular device will show up.

If you have it turned on on both of them, turn it off and then back on on both of them and then take a pic with one of them, and see if it shows up on the other within 30 minutes at the outside.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Hi gail from maine,

I previously tried turning Photo Stream off and then back on with no results. I just turned both devices off and back on at the same time and the results were not good. I lost all of the pictures that were on my iPhone (over 50). Both devices now have only the pictures that were on my new iPad. Fortunately I copied all pictures to my windows based computer before hand but I have been unsuccessfus in moving them to either devices Photo Stream.

Do you have any suggestions.

Thanks

Hi Apache,

Your new iPad pictures are showing up on the Photo Stream tab on the iPad, right?

If not, then check your iPad Wifi connection and your iPad iCloud settings to make sure everything is set up correctly. Your iPad Photo Stream tab needs to be showing your new iPad photos on Photo Stream. If they are not, then the culprit is somewhere in the settings on the iPad.

If they are showing on the iPad's Photo Stream then:

Back up your new iPad photos to you computer, turn off Photo Stream on both again, then reset both devices - hold down the Home key and the Sleep key at the same time and continue to hold them until the silver Apple appears (ingore the red slider if it appears - you won't lose any other data by doing this).

Then once they both have been reset, take a picture on the iPhone, wait a bit, and see if the problem is resolved.

Let me know if it is not!

Good Luck!

Cheers,

Hi GB,

Thanks for all the help. All settings are good on both devices and Photo Stream is working and has been all along.

I guess I was not clear in my original post.

I have many pictures in Photo Stream on my iPhone that were there before I purchased my new iPad. It is those pictures that will not sync to my iPad. New pictures taken with either device do sync.

I believe that I read on another blog that pictures taken on an old device prior to the purchase of a new device will not show on the new device. If this is true than I will consider this issue closed.

Since I saved the iPhone pictures to my computer I will sync them to my iPad Albums.

Thanks again.

Your issue was already covered here as well in gail from maine's first post.

Also, only pics taken after you have turned it on on a particular device will show up.

Photos taken before Photo Stream is enabled will not get sent to the stream on a newly activated device. Only the photos taken after Photo Stream is enabled on the devices will be transfered. So any photos you took on your iPhone before you had an iPad will not show up on the iPad's Photo Stream.

Photo Stream should also only be considered as a temparary way to copy photos between devices. There is a 1000 photo and 30 day limit on Photo Stream. Always get a copy off your devices and stored in a more secure library with it's own back up.

The key is the comment that only photos taken after PhotoStream was turn on is relevant.

You might delete from your PhotoStream those photos you wanton both devices. Be sure to share them back to the camera roll first.

Then, with PhotoStream on for both devices Share the photos back to PhotoStream. They should then eventually show up n PhotoStream on both devices.
